Worthing re-sign Hinshelwood favourite Ashley Nathaniel-George from York City

Worthing manager Adam Hinshelwood has described Ashley Nathaniel-George as a “game-changer” after bringing the winger back to Woodside Road from former club York City.

The 31-year-old, who has made more than 100 National League appearances during his career, also has League Two experience with both Crawley Town and Southend United.

Nathaniel-George originally moved to York from Maidenhead United back in 2024, but his time at the Minstermen took a downturn once Hinshelwood departed the club. He fell out of favour under the new regime and spent last season away on loan, first at Hartlepool United and then at Wealdstone.

Hinshelwood delighted to land old ally

The reunion sees Hinshelwood, who now manages Worthing, bring in a player he clearly rates highly from his previous spell in charge at York. The Isthmian League Premier Division side have moved quickly to add the experienced wideman to their squad ahead of the new campaign.

“Ash is a great addition to our attacking options,” said Hinshelwood. “On his day he can be a real game-changer with the ball at his feet.”

Nathaniel-George’s versatility down the flanks and his top-tier non-league pedigree make him a notable capture for Worthing as they look to strengthen for the campaign ahead.

A winger with pyramid pedigree

Nathaniel-George’s career has taken in spells across the National League as well as two clubs in the Football League, giving him a wealth of experience to draw upon as he attempts to rediscover his best form at Worthing.

Having spent last term out on loan away from York, the winger will now be hoping regular game time under a manager who knows his qualities well can reignite his career in Sussex.
