Glasner named Nottingham Forest boss as fifth head coach in a year

Nottingham Forest have appointed Oliver Glasner as their new head coach, making the Austrian the club’s fifth man in the hot-seat in less than 12 months.
Glasner, who left Crystal Palace at the end of last season, arrives at the City Ground to replace Vitor Pereira, who was sacked on Tuesday.
Pereira’s exit came to the wire
According to the BBC, Forest triggered a clause in Pereira’s contract, informing the Portuguese coach of their decision to part ways just two minutes before that clause was due to expire in June.
The BBC reports that contact between Forest and Glasner was first established earlier this summer, suggesting the club had been lining up his arrival for some time before confirming Pereira’s departure.
A revolving door at the City Ground
Glasner’s appointment continues a turbulent period for Forest, who have now cycled through five head coaches in under a year — a remarkable turnover rate even by modern football’s ruthless standards.
The 51-year-old made his name at Eintracht Frankfurt before taking charge of Crystal Palace, where he spent time until leaving at the close of last season.
Forest will hope that bringing in an experienced European coach can finally provide the stability the club has lacked amid such frequent changes in the dugout.
Further details on Glasner’s contract length and his backroom staff are expected to follow in the coming days.
