Liverpool ready to listen on Van Dijk as Saturday’s gossip rolls in

Liverpool are reportedly prepared to entertain offers for captain Virgil van Dijk this summer, with sources inside Anfield said to have regrets over extending the Dutchman’s contract last year, according to Teamtalk. The 34-year-old centre-back remains a key figure at Anfield, but his long-term future now appears far less certain than it did twelve months ago.

It is one of several eye-catching lines in Saturday’s round-up of transfer gossip, which also touches on interest in a West Ham winger, a possible Serie A move for a Chelsea defender and Manchester United’s continuing search for midfield reinforcements.

Fulham join the queue for Summerville

Fulham have entered the race to sign West Ham winger Crysencio Summerville, 24, joining Chelsea and Manchester United in monitoring the Netherlands international, the Guardian reports. Summerville has been one of the more eye-catching performers in east London since his move from Leeds United, and his situation is likely to be closely watched as the transfer window progresses.

Continental interest in Chalobah

Chelsea and England centre-back Trevoh Chalobah could be heading for Serie A after his agent held talks with Inter Milan representatives, according to Gazzetta dello Sport. Como are also said to be keeping tabs on the 26-year-old, who has struggled for consistent game time at Stamford Bridge.

Elsewhere, Barcelona are reported by Sport to have no intention of pursuing Bayern Munich and England striker Harry Kane, 32, closing off one possible avenue for the forward’s future amid ongoing speculation about his club career.

United weigh up midfield options

Manchester United continue to weigh up their midfield targets, with Real Madrid’s Aurelien Tchouameni, 26, and Bournemouth’s Alex Scott, 22, both said to remain high on the club’s shortlist, according to Sky Sports. Talks between Arsenal and Aston Villa over England forward Morgan Rogers, 26, are also expected to drag on, with Football Insider reporting the two clubs remain some way apart on valuation.

Leeds United are reportedly ahead of Juventus in the pursuit of Japan goalkeeper Zion Suzuki, 23, from Parma, with Sport Italia claiming a deal worth around £25million could be struck. Manchester City’s teenage striker Matty Warhurst, 19, is said to be attracting attention from Stockport County, Northampton Town and Swindon Town, according to the Mail.

Coventry busy on two fronts

Everton goalkeeper Mark Travers, 27, has emerged as a target for Coventry City, the Mail reports, while the same club are also said to be among those showing interest in Juventus striker Lois Openda, 26, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.

Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia continues to be viewed as the most likely destination for Egypt forward Mohamed Salah, 34, should he depart Liverpool, according to the Mirror.
