Kappa and Cruel Pancake unveil retro Italian football capsule in Paris pop-up

Italian sportswear brand Kappa has joined forces with streetwear label Cruel Pancake to launch a limited-edition capsule collection celebrating the golden age of Italian football fashion. Named “Maestro of the Game,” the range draws heavily on the aesthetic of Serie A in the 1990s and 2000s, blending old-school football styling with contemporary streetwear design.

The collaboration will be available for one day only, on 4 October, via a pop-up store at 118 Rue de Turenne in Paris. Stock is understood to be extremely limited, giving shoppers a narrow window to get their hands on the pieces before the collection disappears entirely.

What’s in the collection

The capsule is made up of just four unisex items, each carrying clear nods to the training-ground fashion of Calcio’s most romanticised era. The standout piece is an oversized cream zip-up jacket finished with pink trim, a design reminiscent of what might once have been worn pitchside by an Italian club in decades gone by.

Accompanying the jacket is a long-sleeved jersey featuring bold pink stripes, a co-branded Kappa x Cruel Pancake logo, and the “Maestro of the Game” lettering across the back. A cleaner short-sleeved jersey completes the top half of the range, made from white fabric with subtle pink pinstripes, while a matching pair of white-and-pink socks rounds off the four-piece set.

A love letter to Calcio’s golden era

According to 90min, the collection is aimed squarely at collectors, streetwear enthusiasts and fans of Italian football’s golden years, positioning the range as a fleeting but heartfelt tribute to the sport’s aesthetic history. The one-day, single-city release format is designed to heighten the exclusivity of the drop, with no indication of a wider rollout beyond the Paris pop-up.

Kappa has long been associated with Italian football’s most stylish period, having supplied kits to a number of Serie A clubs during the 1990s and early 2000s, an era still fondly remembered by fans for its bold, colourful designs. This latest collaboration with Cruel Pancake appears to lean into that nostalgia while reworking it for a modern streetwear audience.

With such limited numbers on offer and only a single day to purchase, the “Maestro of the Game” capsule looks set to become a sought-after item among football fashion collectors, even beyond those who managed to visit the Paris pop-up in person.
