Tottenham close in on Tonali as Odegaard and Bowen transfer talk swirls

Tottenham Hotspur are edging closer to a fifth summer signing after agreeing a £100million deal in principle with Newcastle United for midfielder Sandro Tonali, according to reports carried by the Mirror. The move would follow Spurs’ £85million capture of West Ham United’s Mateus Fernandes, completed on Thursday under new boss Roberto De Zerbi.

Spurs have been the busiest Premier League club of the window so far, with De Zerbi keen to reshape his squad after taking charge. Should the Tonali deal be finalised, it would represent one of the biggest outlays of the summer for an English club.

Odegaard’s Arsenal future insisted to be settled

Elsewhere, Martin Odegaard’s future at Arsenal remains unchanged despite speculation linking the captain with a move to Galatasaray. Football.london reports that Odegaard has not agreed terms with the Turkish club, contrary to claims in Turkey that his agent, Bjorn Kvarme, had travelled to Istanbul.

Sources close to the player insist Kvarme has actually been with Odegaard in the United States, and that the Norwegian is “very happy” at the Emirates Stadium. Arsenal are said to be equally content with their skipper, dampening any suggestion of an imminent exit.

West Ham stand firm on Bowen

West Ham United, meanwhile, have made clear that Jarrod Bowen is “not for sale” this summer. Sky Sports reports the Hammers’ position remains firm despite outside interest, with Bowen having four years left on his current contract and no reduction in wages being considered.

Bowen has also been prominently featured in West Ham’s kit launch for the 2026/27 season, a further indication of the club’s intention to build around him rather than sell.

Manchester City set to sanction Ake exit

Manchester City look set to part ways with defender Nathan Ake, with the BBC reporting that Fenerbahce and City are discussing a £7million deal, potentially rising to £8.5million with add-ons. Talks are understood to be in their final stages, though details are still being finalised.

Fenerbahce have already suggested an agreement is close, stating that Ake, who represented his country at the 2026 World Cup, will link up with the squad in Austria once the permission process is complete.

Busy window continues to take shape

With Tottenham’s spending spree, uncertainty over Bowen and Odegaard, and City preparing to lose Ake, the Premier League’s summer business shows little sign of slowing. Chelsea have also been active, confirming the signing of Marco Palestra while continuing to chase Rayo Vallecano’s Pep Chavarria as a potential replacement for Marc Cucurella.

Manchester United, by contrast, are yet to make a first-team signing this summer, though talks have reportedly begun over a move for West Ham winger Crysencio Summerville, valued at around £50million, as the Reds look to strengthen out wide before the window closes.
