Transfer window latest: Arsenal chase Rogers and Barcola, Man Utd target Tchouameni

Arsenal, Manchester United, Chelsea and Liverpool are all pushing to complete significant summer business, with the transfer window heating up as several Premier League clubs look to reshape their squads following the World Cup.

Arsenal are reportedly working on separate deals worth more than £100 million combined to sign Morgan Rogers and Bradley Barcola, according to reports on social media, with the Gunners understood to be keen on both World Cup performers even though club-to-club talks are yet to begin in earnest.

Arsenal chase more attacking reinforcements

Arsenal have already agreed to sell Leandro Trossard to Besiktas, with the Athletic reporting the fee is worth £17.1 million for the Belgian winger, who joined from Brighton in a £27 million deal back in January 2023.

Mikel Arteta’s side, who won the Premier League title and reached the Champions League final last season, are also said to be interested in Bournemouth’s Alex Scott and Juventus forward Kenan Yildiz. However, BBC Sport reports that Bournemouth are adamant they will not sell Scott under any circumstances this summer.

Arsenal had been chasing Leicester City wonderkid Jeremy Monga but have pulled out of that race, with Manchester City instead winning the battle to sign the youngster in what is understood to be a done deal.

Spanish outlet AS reports that Arsenal are also making a “strong push” to sign Newcastle United midfielder Bruno Guimaraes, one of several Brazilian players expected to move clubs following the World Cup. Newcastle are said to have lined up Danilo Santos as a potential replacement.

Manchester United’s midfield search

Manchester United are targeting Real Madrid’s Aurelien Tchouameni as they continue to overhaul their midfield this summer. Sky Sports reports that the Frenchman heads a shortlist that also includes Alex Scott, Felix Nmecha, Ayyoub Bouaddi and Sander Berge.

The Red Devils have already agreed a £35 million deal to sign Ederson from Atalanta, following the departure of his Brazil team-mate Casemiro at the end of last season. A serious injury to Manuel Ugarte does not appear to have altered United’s transfer plans, and talks are continuing with West Ham United over a potential move for Crysencio Summerville.

Chelsea complete George sale to Everton

Chelsea are also being linked with Tchouameni having ended their pursuit of Granit Xhaka. Trevoh Chalobah is expected to leave Stamford Bridge before the window closes.

Chelsea have agreed to sell academy graduate Tyrique George to Everton in a deal worth up to £24 million, Standard Sport understands. The move follows an impressive loan spell under David Moyes last season, with Everton keen to make it permanent from the outset of the window.

The fee is structured as £18 million plus up to £6 million in add-ons, with Chelsea also negotiating a 15 per cent sell-on clause into the agreement.

Elsewhere in the window

Tottenham Hotspur could beat Arsenal to the signing of Eli Junior Kroupi and are also targeting Raoul Bellanova, while Sandro Tonali is poised to complete his move to north London. Liverpool, meanwhile, are said to be considering a bid for Spanish forward Sergio Arribas.

Nathan Ake has completed a move to Fenerbahce, ending his six-year association with Manchester City after joining from Bournemouth in 2020 and winning a host of honours including the Champions League and four Premier League titles.

Bidding farewell to City, Ake said: “It’s been a privilege to represent Manchester City over the past six years and I’m so grateful to have been part of a special team. I’ve grown so much here – as a player and person – and I’m thankful for the time I’ve had at the club.”
