Everton complete £18m George deal as Tonali move to Spurs confirmed

Everton have completed the permanent signing of Tyrique George from Chelsea in a deal worth £18million, confirming one of the more significant early moves of the summer transfer window. The Toffees had already had the 20-year-old on loan last season and moved swiftly to make the arrangement permanent once the window reopened.
George delighted to return to Goodison
According to the Daily Mail, the clubs had originally agreed a package worth £25million for an outright transfer, but Everton were able to negotiate reduced terms given George’s prior loan spell at the club. The final structure includes an initial fee with a further £6million in add-ons, plus a 15 per cent sell-on clause retained by Chelsea.
Speaking to Everton’s official website following the move, George said: “I’m so happy to sign for Everton. I loved my time here on loan last season, so as soon as I knew it was a possibility to return, that’s always what I wanted.”
He added: “This is a massive club. I’ve seen for myself how passionate the fans are about Everton, how much it means to them – and I want to put on good performances, score goals and help this club going forward.”
The attacker impressed during his time on Merseyside last term, and Everton’s decision to push through a permanent deal so early in the window underlines their intent to build around players who already know the club and its supporters.
Tonali switch to Spurs also confirmed
Elsewhere in a busy day for the transfer market, Tottenham Hotspur have completed the signing of Sandro Tonali from Newcastle United. The move brings to an end weeks of speculation surrounding the Italy midfielder’s future at St James’ Park.
The Daily Mail’s Window Watch column, compiled by Simon Jones and the outlet’s sport team, is tracking developments across the summer window, which remains open until 1 September. Both deals add to what is shaping up to be an eventful transfer period across the Premier League.
